Complex disease processes with varying clinical signs characterize auto-inflammatory diseases in dogs. Shar-Pei auto-inflammatory disease (SPAID) is characterised by skin inflammation (dermatitis), periodic fever and arthritis. Additional signs could be otitis, eye inflammation, erythema, thickened and pasty skin, recurrent intestinal inflammations and systemic amyloidosis. Onset of signs of inflammation is variable from 1 up to 12 years of age.

Genetic test: The method used for testing is extremely accurate and allows complete differentiation between affected animals, carriers and healthy dogs. Testing can be done at any age.
